Eight fast fashion retail giants, including H&M, New Look, Next, and Zara’s parent company Inditex, have agreed to increase the minimum wage for their garment makers in Cambodia . Thousands of garment workers had previously rallied across the Cambodian capital, Phnom Penh, as they continued to demand that the current $100 per month minimum wage be lifted. The agreement has been heralded as “unprecedented” by labor-rights groups, despite the agreed new wage not matching the $177 per month demanded by the workers.
